It’s true: tucked among the rolling sand dunes and beaches, you’ll find a treasure trove of antique stores, thrift stores and antique malls filled with hidden gems waiting to be uncovered.
Rich History of Michigan’s Harbor Country
The eight small towns that make up Harbor Country (Harbert, Sawyer, New Buffalo, Union Pier, Grand Beach, Lakeside, Three Oaks and Michiana), have long been a summer destination for wealthy Chicagoans and others who made their vacation homes on the sprawling Lake Michigan shores.
They furnished their homes with the well-made furniture, accessories and vintage décor that now help stock the shelves and tables of Harbor Country antique stores. Many of the antiques dealers and owners of these shops travel thoughout with world collecting and bring them back to their store in Harbor Country.
