An escape room is a live, themed adventure where you use lateral thinking skills and reason to find clues and solve puzzles. Usually, 60 minutes long, escape room games are a great indoor activity that challenges us to exercise our brain, which is always a great thing to do!

Escape Rooms in East and Southeast Michigan
Fifth Wall Escape

We love this fun escape room with immersive games based on real-life historical events. The “Purple Gang” game is based on Detroit’s own notorious band of Prohibition-era mobsters, imagining you as part of a squad of Detroit police in 1929, with a mission to find out the details of a murderous plan being hatched by the gang with the notorious Chicago mob. There’s a Harry Houdini game focusing on the famed magician’s fateful performance in Detroit, and one based in a wooded cabin in west Michigan.

Clueless Escape

Featuring real-life games for both adults and kids 9-17 years, and virtual reality games for ages 12+, this is one of the most popular escape rooms in southeast Michigan. You’ll find four awesome real-life game rooms at this Ann Arbor escape room, including the Candy Caper, where you must search for the secret recipe to save Grandpa’s chocolate shop, or Castaway Island, where you’re stuck on a deserted island with flip-flops and a broken radio. Can you make it back to civilization, or at least downtown Ann Arbor MI?

This fun escape room in Jackson, MI has different themes, including The Attic, The Back Alley and the popular ” You Have Been Chosen,” which requires you to flex your brain muscle while traveling through time and space. They also offer “Sip and Solve,” a hybrid game night featuring with trivia, puzzles, and other fun challenges.

Breakout Escape Rooms Royal Oak

Located just minutes from Detroit MI, you’ll find a variety of game options, including both 60-minute or 75 minute escape games at Breakout Escape Rooms Royal Oak. The Ringmaster’s Den, an inspired favorite, places you at a circus where you’re desperately trying to escape a locked trailer before the ringmaster transforms you into a circus sideshow freak. With other locations in Ann Arbor, Lansing, MI, and Warren, you’ll find a wide variety of games from which to choose here. If you go to the Warren location, be sure and consider the Zombie Roadhouse.

Choose from fun games like “Around the World in 80 Days,” which takes you on a once-in-a-lifetime journey to iconic destinations around the world, or the outdoor “Drive-In Adventure,” where you help work on a teleportation device.

You’ll find 10 escape rooms as well as two mini-games that last just 15 minutes at this Escape Room in Novi’s Fountain Walk. There’s a wide range of difficulty, as well as a range in the fear factor, which makes it nice for the younger crowd as well as the easily-frightened.

Erebus Escape

Billed as one of the largest escape rooms in the United States, Erebus Escape is located in a 30,000 squares foot building filled with themed adventures ranging from a lifelike (I think) Prison Escape to the family-friendly “Once Upon a Time” and “Storybook Kingdom.” Erebus is also one of Michigan’s top haunted houses.

You’ll find escape rooms, game nights, and even escape dinners at this fun spot in Port Huron MI.
