My Favorite Cider Mills & Apple Orchards (First-Person Picks)
These are the places I personally love for scenery, food, and “you could spend all day here” fun.
Uncle John’s Cider Mill — St. Johns (Mid-Michigan)
8614 US-127, St Johns, MI
If you love “everything fall” in one place, this is it: classic cider & donuts, a pumpkin patch, corn maze, a 40-foot gemstone mining sluice for kids, and a tasting room with award-winning hard cider, wine, and apple vodka. Uncle John’s Cider Yard adds bonfire pits, yard games, food trucks, and live music—perfect for a crisp evening.
EXPERT TIP: Uncle John’s also makes award-winning hard cider, wine and even a vodka distilled from apples, and has a Tasting Room for visitors. They’ve also opened a Cider Yard, where families can enjoy cider (hard cider and non-alcoholic) together with bonfire pits, yard games, food trucks, music and more.

Knaebe’s Apple Farm & Ciderworks — Rogers City (NE Michigan)
2621 S Karsten Rd, Rogers City, MI
Wood-fired pizza, hard cider in the Ciderworks, and a gorgeous Up North backdrop with 50+ apple varieties. Located north of Alpena and south of Mackinaw City in Rogers City, this family-owned apple orchard has stunning northeast Michigan as a backdrop. Come hungry; the combo of fresh air + cinnamon at Knaebes is irresistible.
PRO-TIP: Knaebes has more than 13 acres of apples with U-Pick and hand-picked apples available throughout the season. Plan to spend a day picking some fresh apples, breathing in the fresh northern Michigan air, and then explore the other activities on the grounds.

Wiard’s Orchards & Country Fair — Ypsilanti (SE Michigan)
5565 Merritt Rd, Ypsilanti, MI
The oldest still-operating apple orchard in the state of Michigan, this quiet little spot comes alive in autumn. That’s when Wiard’s opens up their Apple Orchards and Cider Mill along with their wildly popular “Country Fair,” a fun festival of fall featuring corn maze, wagon rides, an animal farm, mini golf, play areas and so much more.
To help keep your energy up – or if you just want to stop in for some treats – there’s the Country Market and Bakery: filled with fresh cider and donuts; candies and some of the best carmel-dipped apples we’ve ever tasted. You’ll also find jams, jellies and other baked good, including a variety of frozen pies ready to be baked at home by you.
Rennie Orchards — Williamsburg (near Traverse City)
11221 Monroe Rd, Williamsburg, MI
If you’re looking for a great place to experience “Up-North” Michigan in the fall be sure and add Rennie Orchards to your list. Better yet, plan a fall weekend getaway around a visit to the stunningly gorgeous family-owned farm near Traverse City. Panoramic hilltop views, hay wagon rides, a hay-bale maze, log cabin & teepee—plus excellent U-pick. Renne’s is a perfect Traverse City weekend add-on.

3142 4 Mile Rd NE, Grand Rapids, MI
Over 100 years of tradition: bakery (pies, breads, pastries), winery tasting room, horse-drawn hayrides, trails, pumpkin patch, and a family-friendly corn maze. Dog-friendly outdoors (leash).
Robinette’s is a Dog-friendly Cider Mill!
Robinette’s is pet-friendly: leashed dogs are allowed on the ground, however, not in the buildings, corn maze or on hayrides. As always, please please clean up after your dogs 🙂.

Spicer Orchards — Fenton (Metro Detroit)
10411 Clyde Rd, Fenton, MI
Family-favorite: train & wagon rides, bounce houses, zip line, petting zoo, corn maze—plus a winery for hard cider & wine tastings.
“Family visit back home to Michigan in the Fall season was highlighted by our visit to Spicers Orchard in Fenton. Friendly staff, great attractions and rides for my four year old grandson, delicious fruits and produce and doughnuts to purchase, and wine tasting was the best! The staff was very friendly and helpful.”
Blake’s Orchard & Cider Mill — Armada (SE Michigan)
17985 Armada Center Rd, Armada, MI
Think “fall theme park”: U-pick apples & pumpkins, Funland for kids, corn maze, hard-cider/beer/wine tastings, and bonfires after dark. (I’m partial to Grizzly Pear hard cider.)
Gull Meadow Farms
8544 Gull Rd, Richland, MI 49083
A trip to Gull Meadows Farms is a perfect day out with friends and it’s a haven for children and adults alike. With a fabulous bakery and opportunities for picking pumpkins and apples, you may never forget your time at Gull Meadow Farms. They have wagon rides, sunflower days, Christmas walk-through lights, and an unforgettable, giant corn maze, too.
