I love bringing the whole family to SEA LIFE Michigan Aquarium in Auburn Hills, and this year they have a special “Twinkling Tides” Exhibit that features Scuba Claus and red and green sea anemone in the Touch Pool! The underwater tunnels are absolutely magical, and the kids always get a kick out of the interactive touch pools. SEA LIFE is located in the Great Lakes Crossing Outlet Mall in Auburn Hills. If you go, plan to grab a warm pretzel or hot chocolate at the Great Lakes Crossing Outlets Food Court—it’s a great way to end the day.

Step Back in Time at the Grand Rapids Public Museum

The Grand Rapids Public Museum is one of my go-to spots when I’m in West Michigan. Walking through the Streets of Old Grand Rapids exhibit or riding on the historic Merry-Go-Round feels like stepping into a time machine and always brings out the kid in me! The museum overlooks the Grand River in downtown Grand Rapids and is a lot of fun for all ages. If you visit, I recommend stopping at Field & Fire Café nearby for a latte and one of their amazing pastries—it’s the perfect treat after exploring the museum.

There’s nothing quite like experiencing Detroit during the holidays, and the Detroit Markets at Cadillac Square are the place where it’s all happening. Located near the giant Christmas Tree and Ice-Skating Rink at Campus Martius, you’ll find a curated collection of vendors offering unique and one-of-a-kind gifts. The Cadillac Square Lodge is the coziest spot to soak it all in, featuring a large, heated tent filled with games, leather sofas, cozy blankets, and up-north ski lodge amenities, along with tasty beverages to sip.
