The Ultimate Parking & Shuttle Guide for the 2025 Traverse City Cherry Festival
If you’re heading to the National Cherry Festival this year, you’re probably wondering where to park and how to get around.

Where to Park Downtown
As a local who’s navigated the National Cherry Festival week many times, I’ve gathered everything you need to know for a smooth arrival—whether you’re driving in for the day or staying all week. Downtown Traverse City offers several public parking options close to the festival grounds:
- Larry C. Hardy Parking Deck (303 E. State St.)
- Old Town Parking Deck (125 E. Eighth St.)
- Old Town Lot (corner of Lake Ave & Eighth St.)
Rates:
- Special event rates apply during festival weekends and parade days (typically $10–$20/day).
- Metered street parking is available at $1.50/hour, with a 10-hour limit and $20 daily max.
Tip: Arrive early—lots fill up fast, especially on parade and air show days.
Off-Site Parking & Park-and-Ride Lots
If you’d rather avoid downtown traffic, take advantage of off-site parking lots with shuttle service:
- Meijer Parking Lot (US-31)
- Northwestern Michigan College (NMC) Cherry Lot
- Woodland Creek Furniture (East Side)
- Grand Traverse County Civic Center
- Traverse City Central High School
- Great Wolf Lodge
- Grand Traverse Commons
Check for signage and festival staff at these lots for shuttle pick-up locations.
Free Cherry Festival Shuttle (Bayline)
The BATA Bayline shuttle is your best friend during festival week:
- Runs every 15 minutes from 7 AM to midnight, June 28–July 5, 2025
- Main stops: Meijer (West), NMC Cherry Lot (Central), Woodland Creek (East)
- Drops off at Hall Street, steps from Open Space Park and festival activities
Bonus: Shuttles are accessible and stroller-friendly.
Special Event Parking

- MSU Horticulture Research Station: Limited parking; shuttle service provided for Orchard Tour & More events.
Parking Restrictions & Closures
Some lots and streets may be temporarily closed for festival events, parades, or carnival setup. Always check for posted signs and official festival updates before you arrive.
