Tip Up Town is one of my favorite winter celebrations since I first attended this Northern Michigan festival in 1982. Back then, most events were held on the frozen Houghton Lake ice.
Now, most things have moved to land but that doesn’t stop the fun! You can still celebrate all things ice fishing in Houghton Lake and witness the iconic Tip-Up Town parade of illuminated fishing shanties. Don’t miss the live music, ice races, chili cook-off, vintage snowmobile displays, a Polar Bear Dip, frosty 5K run, and of course, plenty of fishing.
